The promotional merchandise industry has seen a huge increase in the amount of ‘eco’ products that are now available.<\/p>\n

As there has been such a change over the last few years, we can appreciate that it can be a little overwhelming. But fear not… that’s what we are here for!<\/p>\n

Below, we have devised an ‘Eco Material Bible’<\/strong> to help you understand a little more about the materials that promotional products can be made from. <\/p>\n

\"\"Bamboo – <\/strong>One of the fastest growing<\/strong> plants on Earth, naturally pest resistant<\/strong> absorbing twice as much carbon dioxide than trees <\/p>\n

Cotton – <\/strong>A natural fibre <\/strong>that grows on the seed of the cotton plant. Cotton is sustainable<\/strong>, renewable<\/strong> and biodegradable<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wheat Straw – <\/strong>A bi product from reclaimed agricultural waste <\/strong>after the wheat has been harvested. It is durable <\/strong>and 100% biodegradable<\/strong><\/p>\n

Juco – <\/strong>Is a fine blend<\/strong> of both jute<\/strong> and cotton<\/strong>. By taking the benefits of both jute and cotton, juco puts forward the best of the qualities of both\"\"<\/p>\n

Cork – Natural, renewable, recyclable <\/strong>and biodegradable, <\/strong>cork is one of the best alternatives to leather and plastics<\/p>\n

Corn Starch – <\/strong>A renewable material<\/strong> which does not emit greenhouse gases. Cornstarch plastic products look and feel just like regular plastic but they are 100% biodegradable<\/strong> and compostable <\/strong><\/p>\n

Bioplastics –<\/strong> Plastics derived from renewable<\/strong> feedstocks such as starch<\/strong>. They have a lower carbon footprint<\/strong> and do not waste crude oil in the manufacturing process. Some can be composted<\/strong> while others must be recycled<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Sugar Cane – <\/strong>A natural<\/strong> and renewable<\/strong> material that actively captures CO2 from the atmosphere whilst releasing oxygen at the same time. It’s very versatile<\/strong> and has a high durability<\/strong> which is evident as it’s being used more and more an an eco packaging alternative<\/strong><\/p>\n

PLA –<\/strong> This stands for Polyactic acid which is a vegetable based<\/strong> plastic materials which commonly uses starch<\/strong> as a raw material. It’s a natural degradable polymer<\/strong> designed to substitute other plastics<\/p>\n

Rice Husk –<\/strong> Is a product of the rice milling industry which is available in rice producing countries. It contains no chemicals<\/strong> and is compostable\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jute –<\/strong> A natural vegetable fibre<\/strong> that needs very little irrigation to harvest. Jute fibre is entirely biodegradable<\/strong> and compostable<\/strong>. It also does not use pesticides or fertilisers in the growing process<\/p>\n

Wood –<\/strong> A renewable<\/strong>, recyclable<\/strong> and natural material<\/strong> making it carbon positive<\/strong>. It’s extremely durable<\/strong> and versatile<\/strong><\/p>\n
